Starting a Workspace ❚❘❘ Format Ext. Adobe Illustrator You can import single layer and multilayer Adobe Illustrator files. When an Illustrator file is imported into Combustion, it is automatically converted into a Paint operator. For information, see Importing Adobe Illustrator Files. Adobe Photoshop You can import file types that support multiple layers, such as Adobe Photoshop files. Alpha channels for layers are maintained. When you import these files, you can specify how the system manages the original layers. For information, see Importing Multilayer Files. Cineon You can import Cineon and DPX files and work with these 10-bit logarithmic files in Combustion without converting them to 8-bit linear color space. To learn more about bit depth, see Chapter 22, "Working with Bit Depth''. For specific information on the using Cineon and DPX files, see "Working with Logarithmic Image Data" in Chapter 22, "Working with Bit Depth''. RPF You can import file types that support multiple layers, such as RPF files. Alpha channels for layers are maintained. When you import these files, you can specify how the system manages the original layers. For information, see Importing Multilayer Files. For format options and available compression settings in Combustion, see "Format Options" in Chapter 31, "Rendering''. Starting a Workspace When you start Combustion, the viewport is empty. All you see is the viewport options, the Playback controls, and the animation and display quality options. To start a workspace, you either create a workspace, or open an existing workspace. Later, you can save your work as a workspace file (a file with the .cws file extension). Most of the Combustion user interface is hidden or otherwise unavailable until the workspace includes a branch, or at least a piece of footage. For an introduction to workspaces, branches, and operators, see "About Combustion" in Chapter 2, "Welcome to Combustion''. This chapter explains how to create branches and work with footage. To get started in Combustion: Do any of the following: • Choose File | New (CTRL+N) to create a new Combustion workspace. • Choose File | Open (CTRL+O) to open source material in Combustion. • Choose File | Open Workspace (SHIFT+CTRL+O) to open a Combustion workspace. 83

Adobe Illustrator

You can import single layer and multilayer Adobe
