Brush Controls ❚❘❘ Hard-edged round brushes impart a constant outline and density to your painting strokes. In contrast, airbrushes are soft-edged and pressure sensitive: the longer you press on the mouse button, the denser the color. To access the Brushes controls: In the Paint Controls panel, click the Brush button. The Default brushes palette is displayed. To access the Brushes palette menu: Click the Brushes palette menu button ( ). The brush size is updated. You can view the new brush size in the Brush preview, or move the cursor over the active viewport and view the outline of the resized brush. Changing Brush Shape You can use an elliptical brush, a rectangular brush, or a custom brush shape. To change the brush shape: Select a shape from the Shape list. Resizing a Brush Select the brush size from the Brush controls. You can also resize a brush while you paint. To resize a brush for the current stroke: Hold down CTRL and click and drag. ▲ This also modifies the original brush in the Brushes palette. To resize and save a brush: In the Paint Controls panel, adjust the brush Size. Brush preview All basic brush attributes, such as Size, Aspect, Angle, Spacing, Flow, brush type, and Anti-Alias, and Transform with Object are available for all three brush shapes. The Custom brush has additional options. Refer to Using Custom Brushes. Editing Brush Attributes You can perform many useful edits to your brushes, in addition to resizing them. Use the Brush controls to edit brush parameters. 427
