Freehand stroke in Paint using custom brush Using Custom Brushes ❚❘❘ ▲ If you want to later modify the brush source, make sure to save the workspace before closing it. If the brush source is not saved, the brush is saved in the brush set but it cannot be edited. However, you can modify the brush attributes (Size, Aspect, Angle, and so on). Creating Brushes from Particles You can use one frame of a particle emitter as the source for your custom brush. This enables you to use all the available Particle tools to define the brush shape, size, color, and so on. To create a custom brush from Particles: 1. Select Custom from the Shape list. 2. Click New Particle. The active viewport displays the current CustomBrush Particles operator. It is the source for the new brush. The CustomBrush Particles branch has a duration of one frame. If you were working in a single-viewport layout, the layout changes to two-viewport layout. In the Workspace panel, a Custom Brush Library is created. The Custom Brush Library contains the CustomBrush Particles branch and operator. CustomBrush Particles brush source The Brush Source controls appear. Custom brushes have a duration of one frame. The footage in the CustomBrush Paint branch is the background for the custom brush. The default background is set to black with an opacity of 0%. 3. Use the Particles tools in the Particles controls panel and in the Toolbar to create the custom brush. See "Creating Particle Effects" in Chapter 14, "Creating Particle Effects''. Note: You cannot paint with the custom brush you are creating. 433
