Using the Workspace Panel ❚❘❘ To navigate in the Workspace panel: 1. Select the Workspace panel or press F3. 2. Do any of the following: Press CTRL+UP ARROW CTRL+DOWN ARROW CTRL+RIGHT ARROW CTRL+LEFT ARROW To select The previous element in the Workspace panel. The next element in the Workspace panel. Expand the selected element. Collapse the selected element. Changing What Appears in the Workspace Panel You can choose the level of detail displayed in the Workspace panel. The level of detail affects what is displayed in the Timeline as well. For example, if you display operators, objects, and properties in the Workspace panel, and then select a property, the context-sensitive Timeline list shows nothing because there is no lower level than property. For detailed information, see "Timeline Overview" in Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. By default, only operators and their associated objects appear in the Workspace panel. The objects for a composite are the layers, lights, camera, and null objects. For the Paint operator, the objects are shapes, text, masks, and so on. Note: If you are working in 2D mode, there is no camera or light. To change the level of detail in the Workspace panel: 1. Click the Workspace menu. Menu button 2. Enable the required option. You can choose to display operators, operators and objects, or operators, objects, and properties. Note: The Timeline menu also offers these options, as well as additional options such as Show Only Animated Channels, Show Only Channels with Expressions, and various channel filters. Expanding the Workspace Panel You can choose to display the Workspace panel in its default location (docked with the Toolbar) or choose to expand it so that it appears to the left, alongside the viewport(s). The position of the Workspace panel is saved when you restart the application. When you expand the Workspace panel, its length is equal to that of the viewport(s). You can also customize the width of the Workspace panel and choose the monitor on which it is displayed. For detailed information, see Setting Monitor Preferences. Note: This procedure does not apply if the Workspace panel is undocked. To expand the Workspace panel: 1. Press SHIFT+F10. The Workspace panel appears to the left of the viewport(s). 2. To revert to the default position, press SHIFT+F10 again. Viewing the Footage Library All footage used in the workspace appears in the Footage Library. You can see a listing of the footage in the Footage Library at the bottom of the Workspace panel or in the Timeline. To see the Footage operators as nodes with scrubbable thumbnails and footage information, show the Footage Library view in a viewport. For 17

Using the Workspace Panel

To navigate in the Workspace panel:

You can choose the level of detail displayed in the

Workspace panel. The level of detail affects what is

displayed in the Timeline as well. For example, if you

display operators, objects, and properties in the

Workspace panel, and then select a property, the

context-sensitive Timeline list shows nothing

because there is no lower level than property. For

Note:

If you are working in 2D mode, there is no
