9. Drag the object to reposition it. The object snaps to the closest grid lines and ruler. Grouping and Ungrouping Objects ❚❘❘ 2. Choose Object | Group. A new object called Group appears in the Workspace panel and Timeline list, and a new bounding box surrounds the grouped object. The style and properties of grid lines, guides, and rulers can be configured in the user preferences. For more information, see "Setting Grids and Guides Preferences" in Chapter 2, "Welcome to Combustion''. Grouping and Ungrouping Objects You can group objects to form a new object that occupies a single position in the Timeline. After grouping objects, any edits you perform on the new group apply to all objects in the group. You can also ungroup grouped objects. To group objects: 1. In the Workspace panel, the Timeline, or in the viewport, SHIFT-click each object you want to group. Bounding boxes appear around each object. At this point, edits you perform on the group, such as moving, scaling, or rotating, apply to all objects in the group. Note: If you modify the transform properties of an object when it is part of a group, the modification is performed with respect to the X and Y axes of the group (at the time you created the group), not those of the object. To ungroup objects: 1. Click any of the objects in the group to select the group. Note: You can also select the Group object in the Workspace panel or Timeline. 469
