Editing Text Properties ❚❘❘ To edit a text object: Click the text object in the Workspace panel, Timeline list or viewport. To edit a text character, do one of the following: • Deselect the Text object and CTRL-click the character in the viewport. • In the Workspace panel (F3), expand the text object and select the character. • In the Timeline (F4) list, expand the text object, and then expand the Letters category. Next, select the character you want to edit. To edit multiple characters in a text object, do one of the following: • Deselect the Text object, hold CTRL+SHIFT, and click each character in the viewport. • In the Workspace panel (F3) or Timeline list, expand the text object, hold CTRL or SHIFT and select the characters. • In the Workspace panel (F3) or Timeline list, deselect any selected objects, then CTRL-drag a selection box around the characters you want to select. Moving Text You can move characters, lines of text, or text blocks. To move a text block: 1. In the Toolbar (F2), click the Arrow tool . 2. Click anywhere on the text. The entire text block is selected. 3. To move a text character, deselect the text object, and then CTRL-click the character. 4. Click and drag the text to the new location. To move a text character using the ARROW keys: 1. Select the Text object. 2. In the Toolbar (F2), click the Text tool . The text box appears in the viewport. 3. Use the LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW to move the cursor between the text characters. 4. When the cursor is at the front (left) of the character you want to move, press CTRL and: • Press the LEFT ARROW to move the character to the left (one pixel at a time). • Press the RIGHT ARROW to move the character to the right. • Press the UP ARROW to move the character up. • Press the DOWN ARROW to move the character down. Scaling Text You can scale characters or text blocks. To edit the proportions of a text block: 1. In the Toolbar (F2), click the Arrow tool . 2. Click anywhere on the text. The text block is highlighted with scale and rotation handles. 3. To scale a character, CTRL-click the character. 4. Click and drag the handles to scale the text block. Drag To Center handles Change the width. Top and bottom handles Corner handles Change the height. Change the width and height the simultaneously. Press SHIFT and drag to change the scale while maintaining the proportions of the text. Press CTRL and drag to scale around the pivot point. Press CTRL+SHIFT and drag to scale around the pivot point while maintaining the proportions of the text. 547

Editing Text Properties

To edit a text object:

Click the text object in the Workspace panel,

Timeline list or viewport.

To edit a text character, do one of the following:

•

Deselect the Text object and

TRL

-click the

character in the viewport.

•

In the Workspace panel (

), expand the text

object and select the character.

•

In the Timeline (

) list, expand the text object,

and then expand the Letters category. Next, select

the character you want to edit.

To edit multiple characters in a text object, do one

of the following:

•

Deselect the Text object, hold

TRL

HIFT

, and click

each character in the viewport.

•

In the Workspace panel (

) or Timeline list,

expand the text object, hold

TRL

HIFT

and

select the characters.

•

In the Workspace panel (

) or Timeline list,

deselect any selected objects, then

TRL

-drag a

selection box around the characters you want to

select.

Moving Text

You can move characters, lines of text, or text blocks.

To move a text block:

In the Toolbar (

), click the Arrow tool

Click anywhere on the text.

The entire text block is selected.

To move a text character, deselect the text object,

and then

TRL

-click the character.

Click and drag the text to the new location.

To move a text character using the

RROW

keys:

Select the Text object.

In the Toolbar (
