Editing Clips ❚❘❘ Moving Segments Once you have added segments to the Edit timeline, you can reorder them by dragging and dropping them to a new location. You can insert a segment at a new location, or overwrite current material, depending on whether you have selected Ripple or Overwrite mode. Moving in Ripple Mode Before Move After 00:11:22:22 Move cursor Note: You can also click the segment and drag it towards the top of the timeline. 4. Drag the segment in the required direction. The segment becomes semi-transparent. As you drag the segment, the timecode or frame number appears under the cursor, indicating the start and end point of the segment. Moving in Overwrite Mode Before After Move 00:11:22:22 To move a segment: 1. Set Ripple or Overwrite mode. See Setting Ripple and Overwrite Modes. 2. Select the clip you want to move. Note: You cannot move multiple segments. 3. ALT-drag the segment toward the insertion point. The cursor changes to indicate you are moving the segment. Note: To snap the segment, press Shift while dragging. Segments snap to the nearest marker, cut point, transition head, transition tail, the current time indicator, and frame 0. 5. When your cursor is over the frame where you want to place the segment, release the mouse button. The clip is moved to the new location. Deleting Segments You can delete segments from the Edit timeline. 393
