Using Channel Effects ❚❘❘ background input is snapped to the top left corner of the foreground input. One of the two inputs is then either cropped or resized, depending on the Merge Mode you select. The alpha channels of both layers are taken into account. You can nest Merge filters to merge multiple layers. To add a Merge filter: 1. Create the two layers that you want to merge. 2. Choose Operators | Channel | Merge. The Merge Controls panel appears. 3. Click the Transfer Mode button and select a transfer mode. 4. If the layers are not the same size, click the Merge Mode button and select the way you want the merge to crop or scale the layers. 5. Click the Foreground button and select the foreground layer for the merge. 6. Click the Background button and select the background layer for the merge. Transfer Modes-Controls the way the Merge filter blends the foreground with the background layer. All layer transfer modes are available for the Merge filter. See "Using Transfer Modes" in Chapter 8, "Using Surface Properties''. To select a transfer mode: 1. Select the Merge filter. 2. In the Merge Controls, select a transfer mode from the list. Merge Mode-Controls the way the Merge filter handles layers of different sizes. In all cases it snaps the upper left corners together before performing the crop or scale. Select Crop to Foreground Crop to Background Scale to Foreground Scale to Background To Crop the background layer to the size of the foreground layer.
