Using Deflectors ❚❘❘ To add a deflector: 1. In the Toolbar, select the Deflector tool . 2. In the viewport, click to add the first point. Note: When you click and drag a point, it becomes curved with tangent handles. The Emitter controls change to show a Deflector category. 3. Click to add more control points, then doubleclick, press ESC, or select another tool to end the deflector line. The deflector object appears in the Workspace panel. 4. You can immediately modify the properties. See Deflector Controls for details. You can also rename the deflector. If you add a deflector under the molten metal (from the previous example), the particles fall until they hit the deflector. Then they can bounce. The amount of bounce is determined by the Bounce property of the particle types, the Bounce property of the emitter, and the Bounce property of the deflector. Note: All deflectors affect all the emitter objects (in the current Particles operator). You can turn off a deflector by clicking the icon in the Workspace panel. To delete it, select the deflector and press DELETE. To duplicate a deflector: 1. Select the deflector in the Workspace panel or viewport. 2. Choose Edit | Duplicate. The copy appears above the other deflectors in the Workspace panel stack with the same name as the selected deflector. The duplicate deflector has the same transforms (for example, motion path) and settings. Modifying Deflectors When a deflector object is selected in the Workspace panel (and when you draw a deflector object using the Deflector tool), the Particle Controls panel changes to show a Deflector category. The Deflector controls (and Transform controls) apply to the selected deflector in the Workspace panel (or in the viewport). To set deflector properties: 1. Select the deflector in the Workspace panel. 2. In the Particle Controls panel, click Deflector to show the Deflector controls. 3. Change the Deflector properties.
