21 Using Filters Color Shift Use Color Shift to modify the hue, saturation, or lightness of an image. Use the Master controls to adjust Hue, Saturation, or Lightness uniformly across the image. Use the individual Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, and Magenta controls to adjust the individual colors of an image. These controls only target specific sections of the color wheel. When a Color Shift filter is applied, the Color Shift controls span two "pages." The Master controls and the individual Red, Yellow, Green, and Cyan controls appear on the first page. The Blue and Magenta controls appear on the second page of the Color Shift Controls panel. This split depends on the Menu Height value set in the Monitors preferences. Gamma/Pedestal/Gain Use Gamma/Pedestal/Gain to lighten or darken an image. Gamma-Affects the slope in the color curve to lighten or darken the image overall, with minimal effect on the bright and dark areas already present in the image. Pedestal-Affects the low-end cutoff value of the curve. Increasing the Pedestal value pushes pixels towards the lighter end of the curve. The Pedestal value is added to the color value of each pixel. Gain-Affects the high-end cutoff value of the curve. Increasing the Gain value lightens the image uniformly. Page buttons To display the second page of the Color Shift Controls panel, click the Page 2 button. Equalize Use Equalize to achieve a more uniform brightness distribution in an image or clip. Component-Determines which channels are equalized. Select RGB to equalize the R, G and B values simultaneously; select R, G, B, or Luminance to equalize each channel separately. Blend-Determines how much to blend the equalized version of the image with the original. Gray Gray converts a colored image into a grayscale image. Amount-Determines the amount of color to remove. Increase the amount to remove more and more color from the image. A 100% value makes your selection colorless, a true grayscale image. Movie Color Movie Color increases the saturation of all colors in your image at the same time. It is useful for bumping up the colors in a listless image to provide a more saturated and colorful look. Amount-Varies the amount by which the saturation increases. Tint Use Tint to change the tint of an image while retaining its original shading and contours. The effect is similar to looking at an image through a color lens. 560

Color Shift

Use Color Shift to modify the hue, saturation, or

lightness of an image. Use the Master controls to

adjust Hue, Saturation, or Lightness uniformly

across the image. Use the individual Red, Yellow,

Green, Cyan, Blue, and Magenta controls to adjust

the individual colors of an image. These controls

only target specific sections of the color wheel.

When a Color Shift filter is applied, the Color Shift

To display the second page of the Color Shift

Controls panel, click the Page 2 button.

Equalize

Use Equalize to achieve a more uniform brightness

distribution in an image or clip.

Component

—Determines which channels are

equalized. Select RGB to equalize the R, G and B

values simultaneously; select R, G, B, or Luminance

to equalize each channel separately.

Blend

—Determines how much to blend the

equalized version of the image with the original.

Gamma/Pedestal/Gain

Use Gamma/Pedestal/Gain to lighten or darken an

image.

Gamma

Pedestal
