25 Color Warper Use the Color Warper for advanced color correction, color matching and artistic color effects. Colors can be subtly adjusted or wildly altered across an entire frame, or within specific color ranges. About the Color Warper When you color correct an image or clip, use the Color Warper to perform advanced color corrections and create artistic color effects. The way in which you approach these tasks depends on your goal, the number of clips you are using, and the type of clips being used. Clips created from source material shot with the same camera equipment under the same lighting conditions may be color corrected quickly and easily to correct lighting and color imbalances. Clips created from source material shot at different times of the day, in different seasons, at different locations, or using different equipment require more work. With the Color Warper, you can manipulate colors with precision and ease, working on the entire clip as you would with traditional tools or working with a matte to adjust a range of color in the clip. Use the Color Warper to gesturally set black and white levels, adjust specific colors and color ranges, and accurately match colors in one clip to those in another. You can also perform hue shifts and suppress color to remove color spill or create visual effects such as a color cast. While you manipulate the color content of a clip, you can monitor reference clips as well as changes in the color distribution to ensure that you achieve the result you want. Original data is always preserved, so you can adjust colors without the risk of permanently losing color information. Color Clamping Clamping occurs when colors go beyond the RGB range and color information is lost. In the Color Warper, however, lost color information can be retrieved. For example, if you clip colors using the white level, it is still possible to retrieve highlights that are clamped using various controls in the Basic controls. Use the Color Warper for advanced color

About the Color Warper

When you color correct an image or clip, use the

Color Warper to perform advanced color

corrections and create artistic color effects. The way

Color Clamping

Clamping occurs when colors go beyond the RGB

range and color information is lost. In the Color

Warper, however, lost color information can be

Applying a Color Warper Operator to a

Layer

If you are color correcting a clip in a composite,

simply select the layer and apply a Color Warper

operator.
