To move or lock guides: 1. To change the position of the guides, do one of the following. • Click and drag the guide handle. Using Grids, Guides, and Rulers ❚❘❘ Click to set origin Guide for horizontal ruler Guide for vertical ruler Guide handle • Double-click the guide handle and enter the new location in the Go To Pixel dialog that appears, then click OK (ENTER). 2. To lock the guides so they cannot be repositioned, choose Window | Grids, Guides and Ruler | Lock Guides. To delete guides: 1. To delete a guide, click the guide handle and drag it to the edge of the viewport. 2. To delete all guides, choose Window | Grids, Guides and Ruler | Clear Guides. 2. Position the guides at the location in the viewport where you want the origin of the rulers to be relocated, then release the mouse. The zeroes in the rulers change to reflect the new origin. New position of horizontal ruler origin Using Rulers The rulers appear along the top and left side of the viewport. Their display units are in pixels, corresponding to the aspect ratio of your composite. The default ruler origin (zero point) is set in your user preferences, but you can easily modify it as you work. Changing the ruler origin does not affect the coordinates of objects in your composite; it is simply a reference point. To change the ruler origin: 1. Click the mouse in the upper-left corner where the two rulers meet, and drag into the viewport. Intersecting guides appear as you move the mouse. New position of vertical ruler origin 3. To reset the origin to the default location, doubleclick the upper-left corner of the rulers, or choose Window | Grids, Guides and Ruler | Reset Origin.
