15 Editing Clips Linking Footage operator node to Edit operator node Segments are added in the Edit timeline in the order in which you connect them. However, you can edit them later, if required. 4. Repeat steps 2-3 for each operator you want to add in the Edit timeline. A segment node appears in the Schematic view, linking the selected node to the Edit operator node. Segment node To import footage: 1. In the Edit Timeline controls, click Import Footage. The Import Footage dialog opens. 2. Select the footage you want to add and click OK or press ENTER. Note: You can also right-click the Edit operator in the Workspace Panel and choose Import Footage. For more information, see "Importing Footage" in Chapter 4, "Building Workspaces''. The segment that contains the imported footage appears in the Edit timeline. To add an operator: 1. In the Edit Timeline controls, click Pick Operator. The Operator Picker dialog appears. To add an operator to an Edit operator via the Edit timeline controls: 1. If your Edit timeline already contains segments, drag the Current Time indicator at the location where you want to place the new segment. 2. If the Edit timeline is empty, and you want to move the current time indicator to a position other than the first frame, do the following: • In the Output controls, disable Auto Adjust Duration, and then enter the required timeline length in the Duration field. • In the Edit timeline, move the Current Time indicator to the desired position. 3. Set Ripple or Overwrite mode. See Setting Ripple and Overwrite Modes. 2. Select the operator you want to add and then click OK or press ENTER. Note: Right-click the Edit operator in the Workspace Panel and choose New Segment From Operator. The segment that contains the selected operator appears in the Edit timeline. 390
