Selecting Color Ranges for Color Correction ❚❘❘ Softness range Tolerance range Original color visible through the grayscale display The Active button associated with the selective is enabled when you set the initial softness and tolerance. When an Active button is enabled, the selective's matte will be applied to the result clip. You can disable the Active button at any time if you do not want to apply this matte to the result clip. Note: To redefine a matte based on a different Define control, click the control you want to use. The matte will be reset according to your selection. 6. Enable Tolerance and Softness. The range of color used to define the matte is shown on the hue cube with tolerance and softness indicators. The red outline shows tolerance and the yellow outline shows softness. When you define a matte with a luma range, it is shown in the luma range-the red line indicates the tolerance and the yellow, softness. To view the matte while you refine it, select Matte from the Selective View box. The matte appears in the image window. The black and grey areas of the matte indicate where the image will be color corrected, while the white areas will remain unaffected. Note: Select Matte view to output a matte for use as an output to another operator. The selective must also be selected in the Work On box. 8. To refine the matte, do any of the following: • Click the Add Tolerance picker , and then pick a point in the image, or click and drag the cursor over the image to sample a range of pixels. CTRL-click and drag to sample a rectangular area. The tolerance range extends to include the color of the pixels you sampled. • Click the Remove Tolerance picker , and then pick a point in the image, or click and drag the cursor over the image to sample a range of pixels. CTRL-click and drag to sample a rectangular area. The tolerance range shrinks to exclude the color of the pixel you picked. • Click the Add Softness picker and drag the picker in the area that needs softening. The 667

Selecting Color Ranges for Color Correction

The Active button associated with the selective is

enabled when you set the initial softness and

tolerance. When an Active button is enabled, the

selective’s matte will be applied to the result clip.

You can disable the Active button at any time if

you do not want to apply this matte to the result

clip.

Note:

To redefine a matte based on a different

Define control, click the control you want to use.

The matte will be reset according to your

selection.

Enable Tolerance and Softness.

The range of color used to define the matte is

shown on the hue cube with tolerance and

softness indicators. The red outline shows

tolerance and the yellow outline shows softness.

When you define a matte with a luma range, it is

shown in the luma range—the red line indicates

the tolerance and the yellow, softness.

Controls
