Backburner Server ❚❘❘ INF-Information messages display general information on the current status of the Manager. The following are some of the messages: • Starting Network Manager • Loading plugin: combustion 2008.0 render plugin • Connection to Server(s) • Registration to Manager • Job Submitted • Job Received • Frame Complete WRN-Warning messages are non-fatal. The following are some of the messages: • Manager/Servers shutting down • Server(s) flagged as failed • Loading timeout set too low • Rendering timeout set too low ERR-Error messages are fatal errors that halt a server's rendering of a job. The following are some of the messages: • Failed Renderings and Frame Errors (caused by missing footage, invalid output directory, etc.) • Manager not found • Error registering server(s) • Error writing output file • Error starting combustion • Loading timeouts If a server fails, an error message appears in the Manager window. Note: For a detailed explanation of a server failure, go to the Backburner Queue Monitor. The manager reclaims the task from the failed server and reassigns it to another server. Note: When a server fails, it does not mean the failed server cannot continue to participate in the network render. It only means that it failed for the specific assigned task. The manager continues to assign tasks to the server. Since the Manager cannot determine what causes a render station to fail, it may assign to the failed server new tasks that require the same resources (fonts, plug-ins, or codec), in which case the server will fail again. You can remove a Server from a selected job via the Backburner Queue Monitor. DBG-Debug messages display detailed information on TCP/IP packets and the current state of the Server. Debug extended messages provide a more detailed listing than Debug. When in doubt, enable Debug and Debug Extended. The following are some of the messages: • TCP/IP Packets sent and received • TCP/IP Packet collection • Command line arguments used to launch combustion • Frames Assigned • Log files created and sent • Assignments Threads Backburner Server Backburner Server resides on all workstations that you want participating in network rendering. Backburner Manager sends processing tasks to all workstations on the network that are running Backburner Server. Tasks are distributed across the network until processing is complete. 807
