Dragging the tolerance wireframe control points in the Hue cube or the tolerance line control points in the Luma gradient (representing the tolerance of the sampled pixel) adds or removes the pixel from the range. 6. Adjust the softness range by doing one of the following: • Enter a value in the Luma gradient Softness fields or drag the softness line control points in the Luma gradient. • Drag the softness wireframe control points in the Hue cube. The softness range is defined by the yellow lines in the Luma gradient and by the yellow wireframe in the Hue cube. • Click the Add or Subtract Softness color picker and drag in the composite. 7. Keying Solid Color Backgrounds Using the Diamond Keyer When your sources have key-in content over a well lit, consistent color background (for example a blue or green screen), you can key quickly by selecting the appropriate color channel or by sampling a pixel in the composite. If your blue or green screen sources are poorly lit or if you have shadows or key-in content with transparency, keying out a color channel may not work. For more information, see Keying Uneven Backgrounds in the Diamond Keyer. Keying Blue or Green Screens You can use the Diamond Keyer to pull a key using preset ranges of the green or blue color channels to key blue or green screens. The Diamond Keyer enables you to set the tolerance range based on either the Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, or a sampled pixel. For example, click B to use the blue channel to set the tolerance. The Diamond Keyer affects the alpha. Note: The following procedure assumes you have a composite that will be used for pulling a blue key. To key a blue or green screen: 1. In the Diamond Keyer controls, click Basic. 2. Do either of the following: • Click the B or G Preset to define the tolerance range based on the blue or green channel. The Hue cube and Luma gradient display the initial tolerance and softness set for the matte based on the hue and luminance of the channel. • Plot a color to define the sampled pixel in the hue spectrum and luma range. 636

Adjust the softness range by doing one of the

following:

Using the Diamond Keyer

Keying Blue or Green Screens

You can use the Diamond Keyer to pull a key using

key blue or green screens.

The Diamond Keyer enables you to set the tolerance

range based on either the Red, Green, Blue, Cyan,

Magenta, Yellow, or a sampled pixel. For example,

click B to use the blue channel to set the tolerance.
