Editing Masks ❚❘❘ 4. With the mask selected, click Transform on the Mask Controls panel to edit the mask's position, rotation, scaling, shear, and pivot point. Note: You can also edit the mask's shape (scale), position, and rotation in the active viewport as you would any object. 5. To change the shape of the mask, click the Edit Control Points tool . The mask bounding box is replaced by control points. Use any of the methods described in Working with the Control Points of a Mask. Note: To delete a mask, select it and press DELETE. To add a control point: Move the cursor over the mask's outline. When the cursor changes to a , click to add a control point. To delete a control point: Select the control point and press DELETE. To reposition a control point: 1. Drag the control point. Note: You can nudge the position of a control point (in increments of one pixel) by selecting a point and pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard. To nudge the position of a control point in larger increments (of 10 pixels), hold SHIFT while pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard. Working with the Control Points of a Mask You can change the shape of a mask by editing its control points: • You can add or delete control points. • You can reposition control points. • You can group control points and move, rotate, scale, or shear those points as a group. This can be particularly useful for repositioning points of a mask during rotoscoping. You can also add or remove control points from a group. See "Grouping Object Control Points" in Chapter 17, "Paint: Drawing Basics''. • On any mask except a B-Spline mask, you can toggle a control point between linear (no tangent handles) and Bezier (two tangent handles). • On a B-Spline mask you can adjust the weight handle associated with the control point. See "Editing Object Weight Handles" in Chapter 17, "Paint: Drawing Basics''. To work with tangent handles on control points: Do any of the following: • CTRL-drag a linear control point (no tangents) to make it a Bezier control point with tangent handles that you can drag to change the shape of the curve. 247

With the mask selected, click Transform on the

Mask Controls panel to edit the mask’s position,

rotation, scaling, shear, and pivot point.

Note:

You can also edit the mask’s shape (scale),

position, and rotation in the active viewport as

you would any object.

To change the shape of the mask, click the Edit

Control Points tool

The mask bounding box is replaced by control

Working with the Control Points of a

Mask

You can change the shape of a mask by editing its

control points:

•

You can add or delete control points.

•

You can reposition control points.

•

You can group control points and move, rotate,

scale, or shear those points as a group. This can

be particularly useful for repositioning points of

a mask during rotoscoping. You can also add or

remove control points from a group. See

“Grouping Object Control Points” in Chapter

17, “Paint: Drawing Basics’’

•
