15 Editing Clips Edit Timeline Transition Controls Use the Edit Timeline Transition controls to create and modify dissolves and wipes in the Edit timeline. Format Options list Go to Previous Segment- Moves the current time indicator to the first frame of the previous segment on the timeline. Go to Next Segment- Moves the current time indicator to the first frame of the next segment on the timeline. Insert-Inserts a transition using the specified settings. Disabled-Hides the transition during playback. Type-Sets the transition type. You can choose to create a Dissolve transition or a Wipe transition. Position-Sets the position of the transition in relation to the two source clips. You can choose from Start, Middle, End, or Custom. Length-Specifies the duration of the transition either in frames or in SMPTE timecode. Edit Output Controls Use the Edit Output controls to define the Edit operator's output format. Format Options List-Applies one of several standard format options. You can also create a custom format and set the options individually. For more information on format options, see "Choosing Format Options" in Chapter 4, "Building Workspaces''. Width-Sets the width of the operator, in pixels. Height-Sets the height of the operator, in pixels. Pixel Aspect Ratio-Sets the ratio of the image width to height. Enter a value or select a standard ratio from the list. Frame Rate-Sets the frame rate (in frames per second) at which image sequences are captured or displayed. Fields-Specifies the order in which the fields in an interlaced image are displayed. Enable one of the following options: Select No Fields Upper First Lower First To specify that Each frame is a complete video frame. The upper field (usually odd) is generated first. The lower field (usually even) is generated first. For more information, see "Video Filters" in Chapter 21, "Using Filters''. Bit Depth-Specifies the color resolution. You can choose 8, 10, 12, 16, or Float. For more information, see "Setting Bit Depth" in Chapter 22, "Working with Bit Depth''. 382

Edit Timeline Transition Controls

Use the Edit Timeline Transition controls to create

and modify dissolves and wipes in the Edit timeline.

Go to Previous Segment

Moves the

current time indicator to the first frame of the

previous segment on the timeline.

Go to Next Segment

—

Moves the current

time indicator to the first frame of the next segment

on the timeline.

Insert

—Inserts a transition using the specified

settings.

Disabled

—Hides the transition during playback.

Type

—Sets the transition type. You can choose to

create a Dissolve transition or a Wipe transition.

Position

—Sets the position of the transition in

relation to the two source clips. You can choose from

Start, Middle, End, or Custom.

Length

—Specifies the duration of the transition

either in frames or in SMPTE timecode.
