20 Animating Text Keep Perpendicular Disabled Editing a Text Path Text paths and their control points can be modified and animated with the same tools that are normally used to modify Paint objects and their control points. To edit a text path: 1. Select the Text tool. 2. Do either of the following: • To change the shape of the path, position the cursor over a control point, and when the cursor changes to a , click and drag the control point. • To add control points to the path, position the cursor over the path, and when the cursor changes to a , click the path. For more information on editing objects, see "Editing Object Shapes" in Chapter 17, "Paint: Drawing Basics''. In the Text Modes controls, you can also enable Preserve Alpha so that a text object respects the transparency of the image beneath it (uses the alpha channel of the image, if any, as a mask). Modes Controls Use the Modes controls to apply draw modes to text objects and to enable Preserve Alpha. Text Modes As with Paint objects, you can apply different draw modes to text objects. Since each text block is an object that can be rearranged in the stacking order, you can create interesting combinations of layered text. The Text operator contains the same Modes list as the Paint operator. Foreground and Background Colors Use the foreground color box to change the color of a selected text object. Note: Setting the text color using the foreground color box is the same as setting the text color in the Text Attributes panel. Use the background color box to set a secondary color. Use the Foreground and Background color boxes to quickly change between two colors. Note: The foreground and background colors are shared with the Paint operator. Changes to one affect the other, and vice versa. 544
