Creating Paint Objects ❚❘❘ additional Paint tools. These tools are the Compare tool, the stroked tools, the filled tools, the Text tools, the selection tools, and the mask tools. Do one of the following: To select a drawing tool: Do one of the following: • In the Paint Toolbar, click the tool or press the tool's hot key. • In the Paint Toolbar, click-drag the tool to access additional Paint tools and choose a tool from the context menu, or press the tool's hot key. To create a filled object: Click-drag either the Freehand tool or the filled object tool, and select the tool you want to use, or press the tool's hot key. Use To Draw a filled freehand stroke. Draw a filled rectangle. Draw a filled ellipse. Draw a filled polygon using Bezier curves. Draw a filled polygon using B-Splines. To create a stroked object: Click the Line tool, or click-drag either the Freehand tool or the stroked object tool, and select the tool you want to use, or press the tool's hot key. Use To Draw a freehand stroke. Draw a straight line. Draw a stroked rectangle. Draw a stroked ellipse. Draw a stroked polygon using Bezier curves. Draw a stroked polygon using B-Splines. To draw a circle: 1. Select the Stroked Ellipse tool (C or E) or the Filled Ellipse tool (SHIFT+C or SHIFT+E) in the Toolbar. 2. Hold down SHIFT as you draw the circle. To draw a square: 1. Select the Stroked Rectangle tool (R) or the Filled Rectangle tool (SHIFT+R) in the Toolbar. 2. Hold down SHIFT as you draw the square. Selecting an Object Color Use the color boxes to select the foreground and background colors, or the color picker to select the foreground color. Combustion applies the current foreground color to new objects. Note: The foreground and background colors are shared with the Text operator. Changes to one affect the other, and vice versa. To select a foreground color: Do either of the following: • In the Modes controls of the Paint Controls panel, click the Color Picker tool or press Y and pick a color swatch in the Swatches panel, or sample a pixel or range of pixels in the viewport. 449

Do one of the following:

To select a drawing tool:

Do one of the following:

In the Paint Toolbar, click the tool or press the tool’s

hot key.

In the Paint Toolbar, click-drag the tool to access

additional Paint tools and choose a tool from the

context menu, or press the tool’s hot key.

To create a filled object:

Click-drag either the Freehand tool or the filled

object tool, and select the tool you want to use, or

press the tool’s hot key.

To create a stroked object:

Click the Line tool, or click-drag either the Freehand

tool or the stroked object tool, and select the tool

you want to use, or press the tool’s hot key.

To draw a circle:

Select the Stroked Ellipse tool (

) or the

Filled Ellipse tool (

HIFT

) in the

Toolbar.

Hold down

HIFT

as you draw the circle.

To draw a square:

Select the Stroked Rectangle tool (

) or the Filled

Rectangle tool (

HIFT

) in the Toolbar.

Hold down

HIFT

as you draw the square.

Selecting an Object Color

Use the color boxes to select the foreground and

background colors, or the color picker to select the

foreground color.

Combustion

applies the current

foreground color to new objects.

Note:

The foreground and background colors are

shared with the Text operator. Changes to one affect
