23 Keying The Diamond Keyer affects the alpha. In Combustion, rather than creating a composite by merging sources to generate a matte, you can use the Diamond Keyer to define the alpha channel of an RGBA image. This process creates an alpha-channel matte, which is then used to composite the image over a new background. See Using the Diamond Keyer. Discreet Keyer Interface The following section provides a brief description of all the tools available in the Keyer. It is intended as a quick reference for those who are familiar with keying techniques. Learn more about how to use these tools later in the chapter. To access the Keyer: 1. Select the layer you want to key. 2. Choose Operators | Keying | Discreet Keyer. The Keyer Controls panel appears. Global Keyer Controls The following elements appear with all the Keyer controls. Discreet Keyer Controls The buttons on the left of the Keyer give you access to the different sets of controls in the Keyer. When you click a button, the corresponding controls appear. Keyer Controls Panel Reset Buttons There are two reset buttons in each Keyer control. Reset-Resets the current Keyer controls to their default settings. For example, if you are working on the Curves controls and you click Reset, only the Curves controls are reset to their default value. Reset All-Resets all the Keyer controls to their default settings. For example, if you are working on the Curves controls and you click Reset All, all the settings in the Key, Matte, Curves, Color, and Setup controls are reset to their default values. Note: Only the current Store is affected. Store Buttons Use the store buttons to save up to five versions of your Keyer settings, and then quickly switch between the different stores to compare the results. 608
