6 Using Schematic View click the item you want to modify. The menu options depend on the item selected. All nodes have context menus. Setting the View Context When an operator is displayed in the active viewport, a viewport icon appears next to the operator in the Workspace panel and Timeline. Showing an Operator in the Viewport From the Schematic (or any other) view, you can select an operator to display in the viewport. To view an operator in the viewport: Do one of the following: • Right-click a node and choose Select Operator. In the Select Operator to View dialog, select an operator and click OK (ENTER). Viewport icon identifies the operator shown in the viewport When you show the Schematic view, this icon disappears, but the view context is still on this operator, meaning it is the current operator. When you are in the Schematic view, you can set the view context on another node. When you decide to hide the Schematic view, this node becomes the current operator in the viewport. To change the view context: Do one of the following: • In the Schematic view, right-click an operator node and choose Set View Context. A white outline appears around the node. Note: For layer nodes, you can only triple-click the node. • Triple-click a node. The viewport shows the current operator. If you return to Schematic view, the current operator is displayed with a highlighted border. • Triple-click a node. • Move the cursor to the gray strip at the top of the node, then click and drag it to a viewport. The operator becomes the current operator in the viewport and the operator's controls appear in the Controls panel. If the Composite Controls panel or any other operator controls panel (such as the Paint controls) is active when you select an operator, that operator's controls are displayed. If another panel is showing when you select an operator, the name on the operator's tab updates but the controls are not displayed. For example, if the Timeline is active and the Paint operator is selected, the Paint operator's 166

Setting the View Context

When an operator is displayed in the active

viewport, a viewport icon

appears next to the

operator in the Workspace panel and Timeline.

When you show the Schematic view, this icon

disappears, but the

view context

is still on this

operator, meaning it is the

current

operator.

When you are in the Schematic view, you can set the

view context on another node. When you decide to

hide the Schematic view, this node becomes the

current operator in the viewport.

To change the view context:

Do one of the following:

In the Schematic view, right-click an operator node

For layer nodes, you can only triple-click the

name on the operator’s tab updates but the

controls are not displayed.

For example, if the Timeline is active and the

Paint operator is selected, the Paint operator’s

Viewport icon

identifies the
