Stylize Filters Stylize filters use the colors in a layer to generate creative effects. A noise filter applied over a selection made by adding an ellipse to a rectangle selection. The same effect, with an invert operator applied over the selection. Note: To invert individual selection shapes, you can also use the Invert button in the selection controls. Rectangular Selection Use this operator to create a rectangular selection. To use the Rectangular Selection operator: 1. Select a layer. 2. Choose Operators | Selections | Rectangular Selection. A rectangular selection appears in the active viewport. 3. Click and drag the selection object to position the selection. Click and drag the bounding box handles to resize the selection. 4. Show the Toolbar and select a drawing tool to add more selection objects. For more information on drawing selections, see Chapter 19, "Paint: Drawing Selections''. Bump Map Use Bump Map to simulate the look of a raised or bumpy surface on the current layer using another layer's pixels as a source. In fact, the source for the bump map can be any operator in the workspace. The result looks like the source layer is embossed or stamped onto the surface of the current layer, complete with bright highlights on raised points. In the following illustration, the top image is used as a source for a bump map applied to a solid white layer. The bottom image shows the result. Remove Selection Use Remove Selection to end any selections below this operator in the Workspace panel. When you apply a filter after the Remove Selection operator, the Layer-Determines the source operator for the bump map. Choose from any of the operators in the workspace. 571
