20 Animating Text 3. Click and enable Shadow. For more information about using Shadow controls, see "Shadow Controls" in Chapter 16, "Introduction to Paint''. A default shadow is added to the text object and the Shadow controls appear. Editing the Shadow Properties Use the Shadow controls to change the color of the shadow, soften the shadow, adjust its opacity and scale, and offset the shadow from the text object. To change the color of the shadow: Click the color box and select a color from the Pick Color dialog, or use the Color Picker tool. To adjust the opacity of the shadow: Enter an opacity value in the Opacity field. To soften the shadow: Enter a softness value in the Softness field. The higher the value, the more blurred the shadow. To change the size of the shadow: Enter a value in the Scale field. By default, the size of the shadow is equal to the text object (100%). To change the position of the shadow: 1. Enter a value in the Distance field to offset (in pixels) the shadow from the text object. 2. Enter a value in the Direction field to determine the direction the shadow is cast from the text object. Additional Shadow Controls in Paint When creating text in Paint, you can add and edit a shadow using the Shadow controls in the Text Attributes panel or the Shadow panel. Changes in one panel are reflected in the other. Editing Text Layout You can use the Text Layout controls to easily create different types of commonly used text animations, such as type-on effects, and credit rolls or crawls. You can also specify the word wrap and margin formatting of the text box in the text Layout controls. Text Layout Controls Use the Layout controls to select the type of text animation, and to specify the margins and word wrap of the text box. Layout Type Options Use the Type list to select a type of animation for the text object. 538
