Adding Clips ❚❘❘ An in point, indicated by a green line, appears in the Edit timeline. To move the in an out points: Click and drag the in or out point in the Edit timeline. To clear the in and out points: 1. Disable the Mark In button. 2. Disable the Mark Out button. In point 3. Go to the location in the Edit timeline where you want to mark the out point. 4. Enable the Mark Out button, or press O. An out point, indicated by a red line, appears in the Edit timeline. Out point If you marked both in and out points, the frames between the in and out points are selected. Selected frames In point Out point Importing Footage and Adding Operators You can import footage into the workspace and automatically add them in the Edit timeline. You can also add the output of any operator in the workspace as a segment in the Edit timeline. To import footage and add operators: Do any of the following: • Link operators nodes to Edit operator nodes in the Schematic view. You can link any type of operator node, including Footage, Text, and Paint. • Use the Import Footage or Pick Operator buttons in the Edit Timeline controls. How they are added to the timeline varies slightly depending on whether or not the timeline is empty. • Use one- and two-point editing techniques. See Performing One-Point Edits and Performing TwoPoint Edits. To link an operator node to an Edit operator node: 1. Create an Edit operator. Note: If your workspace does not contain footage, first import it into the Footage Library. See "Opening Footage and Creating Solid Footage" in Chapter 4, "Building Workspaces''. 2. In the Schematic view, connect an operator node (Footage or other operator) to the Edit operator node. 3. In the menu that appears, select New Segment. 389
