5 Compositing Tool Constraint Shortcuts To quickly constrain transforms to specific axes, you can use the shortcuts in this section. These shortcuts assume all axis constraint buttons are enabled. Note: Layer view is excluded because you cannot use the transform tools in Layer view. For Arrow and Pivot tools in the Toolbar: Views Perspective, Camera, Object, Front, and Back Top and Bottom Left and Right Constraint X and Y when you left-click and drag; X and Z when you right-click or ALT-click and drag X and Z when you left-click and drag; X and Y when you right-click or ALT-click and drag Y and Z when you left-click and drag; X and Z when you right-click or ALT-click and drag For Rotate, Scale, and Shear tools in the Toolbar: Views All except Layer Constraint X and Y when you left-click and drag; Z when you right-click or ALT-click and drag You can also nudge the transforms using the arrow keys on the keyboard. After you select the tool, use LEFT and RIGHT ARROW for X, UP and DOWN ARROW for Y, and CTRL+LEFT OR DOWN ARROW keys for Z. For a big nudge, also press SHIFT. In 2D compositing mode, you only have Layer view and Composite view. For changes to the shortcuts, see Creating a 2D Composite. To scale a layer: 1. Select the layer. Note: SHIFT-click or CTRL-click to select multiple layers. 2. To set the scale values of the layer, click the Transform button and do one of the following: • Scrub the X, Y, and Z Scale fields, or enter values in the Scale fields. • Double-click the Scale fields and enter the values in the Enter position dialogs. • Double-click the Scale tool in the Toolbar and change the Scale values in the Scale dialog. 3. To return to the default values, click the Scale Reset button. 4. To scale the layer in a viewport, if not selected, click the Scale tool in the Toolbar and then drag the layer in a viewport. Note: Left-click and drag to scale along the X and Y axes. Right-click a and drag to scale on the Zaxis. 5. To constrain the movement to one or more axes, select the X, Y, and Z options in the Toolbar. Scaling Layers You can scale a layer to change its size and proportions. A scale value of 100% returns the layer to its original size. Note: You can use Z Scale to "move" a layer in the Z axis by scaling the distance between the Z Pivot value and the layer. Thus, Z Scale has no effect when Z Pivot equals 0. 6. Enable the Proportional button in the Transform controls (or press SHIFT while dragging in a viewport) to preserve the layer's proportions when scaling. 134

Tool Constraint Shortcuts

To quickly constrain transforms to specific axes, you

can use the shortcuts in this section. These shortcuts

assume all axis constraint buttons are enabled.

Note:

Layer view is excluded because you cannot

use the transform tools in Layer view.

For Arrow and Pivot tools in the Toolbar:

For Rotate, Scale, and Shear tools in the Toolbar:

You can also nudge the transforms using the arrow

keys on the keyboard. After you select the tool, use

In 2D compositing mode, you only have Layer view

Creating a 2D Composite

Scaling Layers

You can scale a layer to change its size and

proportions. A scale value of 100% returns the layer

to its original size.

To scale a layer:

Select the layer.

Note:

HIFT

-click or

TRL

-click to select multiple

layers.

To set the scale values of the layer, click the

Transform button and do one of the following:

•

Scrub the X, Y, and Z Scale fields, or enter values

in the Scale fields.

•

Double-click the Scale fields and enter the values

in the Enter position dialogs.

•

Double-click the Scale tool

in the Toolbar

and change the Scale values in the Scale dialog.

To return to the default values, click the Scale

Reset

button.

To scale the layer in a viewport, if not selected,

click the Scale tool

in the Toolbar and then

drag the layer in a viewport.

Note:

Left-click and drag to scale along the X and

Y axes. Right-click a and drag to scale on the Z-

axis.
