Using the Reveal Tool ❚❘❘ uniformly lit green screen, you can no longer distinguish where the wires were. Wires removed by revealing to the current frame with a position offset of a couple of pixels. To perform a reveal operation on one frame: 1. Load the layer into Paint. 2. On the Modes controls, click the Reveal button. 3. Move to the frame where you want to reveal (for instance, the frame that contains the elements you want to remove). 4. In the Frame field, enter the number of the current frame and unlock the frame. 5. Offset the position of the current frame using the X and Y Offset fields or the Set Position button . You can also press ALT when any Paint tool is active, and place your cursor over the image. A yellow crosshair appears and the source image is displayed in the viewport. Click the image to set the offset. 6. Press the ; key to show the reveal source. 7. Use the appropriate Paint tools to draw over the object you want to add or remove from the current frame. Revealing from a Frame in the Same Clip At times, you may find an unwanted object appears momentarily in your clip. Often you can remove this object by revealing through to another frame at a time that the object was not present. To remove an object from a clip by revealing to a frame elsewhere in the clip: 1. Load the layer into Paint, then scrub to the first frame in which the object is present. 2. On the Modes controls of the Paint Controls panel, click Reveal. The Reveal controls appear. 3. In the Frame field, enter a frame number corresponding to the frame in which the object is not present, then make sure Lock is enabled. Lock button 4. Press the ; key (semi-colon) to show the reveal source. 5. In the Toolbar, select a Paint tool (such as a filled Rectangle to remove a microphone boom or a Line to remove a wire). 6. Paint over the unwanted object. 7. Scrub to the last frame in which the object is present. 8. Make sure the reveal object is selected, then press the . key (period) to extend the reveal object's duration. 9. If necessary, reposition or scale the reveal object (throughout the clip) so that it covers the unwanted object. Note: You can also use the Tracker to track the reveal object to the unwanted element in the scene (this is especially useful for wire removal). 493
