21 Using Filters Amount-Controls the extent of the rounding effect. Direction-Rounds your selection in only one direction rather than two. Select Horizontal or Vertical instead of the default Both in the Direction list. The effect changes so the results appear more like wrapping the image onto a vertical or horizontal cylinder. Twirl Use Twirl to spin, twirl, and rotate the image. Angle-Controls how far a pixel rotates from its original position. Scale-Determines the size of the distortion. Aspect-Controls the aspect ratio of the area affected. By default the aspect is 0 and the entire layer is affected equally. Set the aspect to a positive value to twirl a horizontal portion of the image. Set it to a negative value to affect a vertical portion of the image. Center-Sets the center around which the image twirls. You can use the Set Position button to set the center. Resize Image-Extends the effect past the edges of the layer. Noise Filters You can use Noise filters to add realism to computergenerated images, or to simulate or match film grain. Add Noise Use Add Noise to give your image a grittier, more textured look. The filter adds random pixels to your image. Amount-Varies the amount of noise to add. Monochrome-Creates noise in the same color as the original image. If this is disabled, the noise is "multi-colored." Type-Determines how the noise is distributed. Uniform distribution is based on the Amount value, while Gaussian distribution calculates noise based on a bell-shaped curve, usually with more pronounced results than the Uniform option. Animate-Generates random noise from frame to frame. If you want the noise to remain the same, disable the Animate option. Clamp-Restricts the noise to a range of color values. Seed-Adjusts the method used to generate the noise. 566
