16 Introduction to Paint To select a tool: Do one of the following: • In the Paint Toolbar, click the tool or press the tool's hot key. • In the Paint Toolbar, click-drag the tool to access additional Paint tools and choose a tool from the context menu, or press the tool's hot key. Grab (Pan) Tool-Use to move the image within the viewport. You can also scrub this tool to move the image. Magnify (Zoom) Tool-Use to zoom in or out on a designated area of an image. You can also scrub this button to zoom. To magnify, SHIFT-click the area of the image you want to enlarge, or click and draw a selection box around a specific area you want to magnify. To zoom out, hold ALT and click the area you want to reduce. Compare Tool-Use to compare, in one viewport, the view of your clip with one of five stored color corrector settings or an operator image. For more information, see Chapter 2, "Welcome to Combustion''. To deselect a tool: Click the Arrow tool or press ESC. Toolbar--Miscellaneous Tools Use these tools to move the contents of the viewport interactively with the mouse, zoom in the viewport, compare two pieces of footage in the same viewport, erase, fill, or select an object. For more information on using these tools, see Chapter 17, "Paint: Drawing Basics''. Eraser Tool-Use to erase effects and objects. The size of the area erased depends on the size of the selected brush. Flood Fill Tool-Use to fill any contiguous expanse of color with the current foreground color. Arrow (Move/Edit) Tool-Use to select or deselect objects and Paint tools. To select an object, click the tool. To deselect the object, either click another object or the background. To select multiple objects, click the first object, then press SHIFT and click each additional object. You can also select multiple objects by drawing a selection box around them. 414
