Using the Operators Panel ❚❘❘ List of Operator Categories Operators in the Selected Category The Operators panel includes a list of operator categories on the left, and a list of operator buttons in the selected category on the right. Under the list of categories, you can choose to Add Favorite or Remove for customizing the Favorites category. To add an operator using the Operators panel: 1. Show the Operators panel (F5). 2. Do either of the following: • In the Schematic view, select a node. • In the Workspace panel, select an operator or a layer. 3. In the Operators panel, select an operator category, then click the button that corresponds to the operator you want to add. The operator is added to the selected layer or operator in the process tree. If you select more than one layer or operator node in the Schematic, the operator is added to each node. The same applies when you select more than one layer in the Workspace panel. To access the operator controls automatically as you add the operator, choose Operators and select an operator from the list, or press CTRL as you click the operator button. For example, if you CTRL-click the Paint button, the Paint Controls panel appears. To make the operator the current operator, click the Send Up button or double-click the Paint operator in the Workspace panel. Like most panels, you can hide, show, or undock Operators panel. To hide the Operators panel: Choose Window | Palettes | Hide Operators, or press F5 if the panel is undocked. To show the Operators panel: Choose Window | Palettes | Show Operators, or press F5 if the panel is undocked. To undock the Operators panel: 1. Choose File | Preferences (CTRL+;). 2. Under the Host category, click the Monitors category, and set Float On for the Operators, and then click OK or press ENTER. Customizing the Favorites Category For quick access to operators you use often, you can add operators to the Favorites category. For example, you can add the Bit Depth Converter to the list of Favorites if you often work with footage that originates as film. By default, the Favorites category includes eight operators: Paint, Composite, Text, Edit, Particles, Timewarp, Discreet Color Corrector, and Discreet Keyer. When there are more than 28 favorites, additional pages appear next to the Operators added to the list of Favorites. 19

Using the Operators Panel

The Operators panel includes a list of operator

categories on the left, and a list of operator buttons in

the selected category on the right. Under the list of

categories, you can choose to Add Favorite or

Remove for customizing the Favorites category.

To add an operator using the Operators panel:

Show the Operators panel (

Do either of the following:

•

In the Schematic view, select a node.

•

In the Workspace panel, select an operator or a

layer.

In the Operators panel, select an operator

category, then click the button that corresponds

to the operator you want to add.

The operator is added to the selected layer or

operator in the process tree.

If you select more than one layer or operator node

in the Schematic, the operator is added to each

node. The same applies when you select more

than one layer in the Workspace panel.
