6 Using Schematic View • For Flow Up, press SHIFT+LEFT ARROW. • For Flow Down, press SHIFT+LEFT ARROW. The connection points are changed and the nodes are automatically arranged. Using the Schematic Grid Use the Schematic grid to make organizing the nodes easier. The Schematic view displays the grid by default. You can use the Snap to Grid option to align nodes to the grid rules as you move them. To show or hide the Schematic grid: Right-click in the Schematic view and choose Display Grid. To make nodes snap to the grid: Right-click in the Schematic view and choose Snap to Grid. Note: Nodes added or moved after enabling Snap to Grid are aligned to the grid. Nodes placed prior to enabling Snap to Grid are not automatically adjusted. To change grid size and color: 1. Choose File | Preferences (CTRL+;). 2. In the Schematic group, click General. 3. Adjust the Size field in the Grid group. 4. Click the Color box to set the color of the grid lines. 5. Click OK. Changing Connection Types The connections connecting the nodes can be displayed as straight lines, curved (Bezier) lines, or circuit-board style straight lines. To change the connection type: 1. Choose File | Preferences (CTRL+;). 2. In the Schematic group, click General. 3. From the Edge Type list, select a line style. Edge Type list 4. Click OK. Using Emphasis Using emphasis in the Schematic view can help you visualize the flow of image data, or help you stay focused on several selected nodes. Emphasis maintains the opacity of the selected nodes and de-emphasizes unselected nodes by lowering their opacity. You can change the opacity percentage for deemphasized nodes. To change the de-emphasis opacity: 1. Choose File | Preferences (CTRL+;). 2. In the Schematic group, click General. 3. Adjust the De-Emphasis Opacity field. 4. Click OK. You can make emphasis follow your selection automatically or you can choose to manually emphasize only when necessary. These techniques are described in the next two sections. 180
