21 Using Filters The RE:Flex consists of three plug-ins-AE RE:Flex Morph, AE RE:Flex Motion Morph, and AE RE:Flex Warp. All three AE RE:Flex plug-ins have the following in common: • Warping is directed through Combustion drawing tools (splines and polylines), not through a grid of mesh points • Geometries need not be closed shapes • Smooth non-polygonal warping • Matching geometries do not need to have the same number of control points • On most workstations, interactive warping can be accomplished at 1/2 video resolution • Option to match vertices of geometries for fine control • 8 and 16 bits per channel support • Oversampling and mipmap options for antialiasing RE:Flex has four settings for anti-aliasing oversampling and two ways to perform the antialiasing. It also has some mipmapping settings to give better filtering results when parts of an image are squished by a factor of 2 or more. It also enables you to auto-color new splines as they are added (so that you don't have to change the color of each new spline as they are added). Morphing gradually transforms an image in a front clip into an image in a back clip. The effect is achieved by warping the two images and dissolving between the front and back clips. The AE RE:Flex Morph includes the following: • "Key images" are placed by the user along the timeline • Morphing occurs by creating a set of geometry on the first key image, then moving the set to corresponding places on each of the successive key images • In-between key images, the user can animate the geometries in order to achieve a non-constant speed of morphing • By default, the two images are linearly crossdissolved.
