Using the Operator Controls The operator controls are context sensitive-only the controls that apply to the selected operator are displayed. When you select an operator in the Workspace panel, its controls appear and the name of the panel changes to that of the selected operator. For example, if you select a Composite operator, the Composite Controls panel appears. Select a Paint operator to display the Paint Controls panel. You can adjust the controls of an operator even if that operator is not displayed in a viewport. This is useful, for example, if you have a Color Corrector on a layer of a composite. You can view the output of the entire composite in the viewport and just select the Color Corrector to make adjustments to the layer. The results appear in the viewport. To access the operator controls: Do one of the following: • Select an operator in the Workspace panel. • Double-click a node in the Schematic view. Note: The operator controls also appear when you display the operator in the active viewport (for example, when you double-click an operator in the Workspace panel). If you show other controls afterward, you can easily return to the controls for the current operator. Select the viewport and click the Send Down button . indicate the flow of image data between the operators. For information on how to use the Schematic view, see Chapter 6, "Using Schematic View''. There are some differences as to what you can do using the Schematic view and what you can do using the Workspace panel or the Timeline: • You can see secondary connections in the Schematic view, but not in the Workspace panel or Timeline. An example of a secondary connection is a Reveal source for Paint. • Connecting operators in the Schematic view is easier and faster than connecting operators in the Workspace panel or Timeline. • In the Schematic view, you can clearly see when one operator (or stream) is used in two places in the process tree. • You can add expressions only via the Timeline. Using the Operators Panel Use the Operators panel to quickly add operators to the process tree. This panel is especially useful when you are using the Schematic view because you can add all the nodes before adjusting the controls. Note: You can also add operators via the Operators menu, or via the Workspace panel, the Timeline or the Schematic view by right-clicking a layer, an operator, or a node and choosing Add Operator from the context menu. Using the Schematic View You can use the Schematic view to build a process tree. The Schematic view uses nodes to represent all the operators and connections between nodes to 18

Using the Operator Controls

The operator controls are context sensitive—only

the controls that apply to the selected operator are

displayed. When you select an operator in the

Workspace panel, its controls appear and the name

of the panel changes to that of the selected operator.

For example, if you select a Composite operator, the

Composite Controls panel appears. Select a Paint

operator to display the Paint Controls panel.

You can adjust the controls of an operator even if that

operator is not displayed in a viewport. This is

useful, for example, if you have a Color Corrector on

a layer of a composite. You can view the output of the

entire composite in the viewport and just select the

Color Corrector to make adjustments to the layer.

The results appear in the viewport.

To access the operator controls:

Select an operator in the Workspace panel.

Double-click a node in the Schematic view.

Note:

The operator controls also appear when you

display the operator in the active viewport (for

You can use the Schematic view to build a process

tree. The Schematic view uses nodes to represent all
