21 Using Filters Selection list-Determines how the selection is added to other selections. Invert-Selects the portion of the image outside the selection. Layer-Selects the operator whose color channel you want to use as a source for this selection. Feather Selection Use Feather to soften the selection below this operator in the Workspace panel. This is useful when you want to feather a selection created by combining two selection shapes, or to feather a selection created using the Discreet Keyer. Draw Selection Use this operator to access the selection drawing tools. To use the Draw Selection operator: 1. Select a layer. 2. Choose Operators | Selections | Draw Selection. The operator is added to the layer in the Workspace panel. 3. Show the Toolbar, select a selection tool, and draw a selection in the active viewport. For more information on drawing selections, see Chapter 17, "Paint: Drawing Basics''. Elliptical Selection Use this operator to create an elliptical selection. To use the Elliptical Selection operator: 1. Select a layer. 2. Choose Operators | Selection | Elliptical Selection. An elliptical selection appears in the active viewport. 3. Click and drag the selection object to position the selection. Click and drag the bounding box handles to resize the selection. 4. Show the Toolbar and select a drawing tool to add more selection objects. For more information on drawing selections, see Chapter 19, "Paint: Drawing Selections''. A noise filter applied over a selection made by adding an ellipse to a rectangle selection. The same effect, with a Feather operator applied over the selection. Note: To feather individual selection shapes, you can also use the Feather slider in the selection controls. GBuffer Material Selection Use this operator to select material IDs in RLA or RPF files. For more information, see Appendix B, "Combustion and 3ds Max". GBuffer Object Selection Use this operator to select object IDs in RLA or RPF files. Selection list

Draw Selection

Use this operator to access the selection drawing

tools.

To use the Draw Selection operator:

Select a layer.

Choose Operators | Selections | Draw Selection.

The operator is added to the layer in the

Workspace panel.

Show the Toolbar, select a selection tool, and

draw a selection in the active viewport.

Elliptical Selection

Use this operator to create an elliptical selection.

To use the Elliptical Selection operator:

Select a layer.

Choose Operators | Selection | Elliptical

Selection.

An elliptical selection appears in the active

viewport.

Click and drag the selection object to position the

selection. Click and drag the bounding box

handles to resize the selection.

Show the Toolbar and select a drawing tool to add

more selection objects.

Feather Selection
