5 Compositing Adding Markers to Operators and Layers You can add markers to each layer of a composite and to any operator to help keep track of animation cues. For example, add markers to a layer that has footage of a closing door: one for when the door begins to close and another for when it slams shut. Markers appear in the Timeline, on the layer and operator duration bars. Markers have no effect on the output: they are purely reference points and are helpful for setting keyframes. For more information, see Chapter 15, "Editing Clips''. To add an operator marker: 1. Double-click the operator to which you want to add a marker to make it the current operator. 2. Show the Timeline (F4) and choose Overview mode. 3. Show the operator's object duration bar in the Timeline. 4. Navigate to the time frame at which you want to add a marker. The cursor changes to . You can add markers to each layer of a composite
