Changing Footage Source Settings ❚❘❘ To find a Footage operator in the Workspace panel, expand the appropriate layer in a composite, or find the start of the branch (bottom of branch in the panel). You can also look in the Footage Library, or use the Footage Library view. 2. If you want to see the footage as you edit the settings, make the Footage operator the current operator in the viewport. For example, doubleclick the Footage operator in the Workspace panel. Note: You can also select the Footage operator in the Footage Library. 3. Click the Source button. The Source controls appear. The Source settings determine how the digital media file is interpreted for use in the current workspace. Changing Channel Settings When you open a clip that contains an alpha channel, Combustion detects it and automatically displays RGB color and the alpha channel. You can select or change the channels present in the footage, invert the alpha channel, or turn off either the color channels or the alpha channel altogether. Setting Field Dominance Each video frame is made up of two fields of alternating lines. These fields are updated at twice the frame rate of the clip. Field dominance determines which field is generated first and is usually determined by the type of video card you used to digitize footage. Make sure that the field dominance in your workspace is the same as the field dominance of the original source material. If it is not, clips are displayed incorrectly. To set field dominance: 1. In the Workspace panel, select the Footage operator you want to change. Note: You can also select the Footage operator in the Footage Library. 2. Click the Footage Controls tab to access the footage controls. 3. Click the Source button. 4. Select an option from the Field Separation list. For more information, see "Working with Image Channels" in Chapter 9, "Working with Image Channels''. The following options are available. Select No Fields Upper First Lower First To Specify that each frame is a complete video frame. Specify that the upper field (usually odd) is generated first. Specify that the lower field (usually even) is generated first. For more information, see "Video Filters" in Chapter 21, "Using Filters''. 111

To find a Footage operator in the Workspace

panel, expand the appropriate layer in a

composite, or find the start of the branch (bottom

of branch in the panel). You can also look in the

Footage Library, or use the Footage Library view.

If you want to see the footage as you edit the

settings, make the Footage operator the current

operator in the viewport. For example, double-

click the Footage operator in the Workspace

panel.

Note:

You can also select the Footage operator in

the Footage Library.

Click the Source button.

The Source controls appear.

Changing Channel Settings
