32 Network Rendering The yellow icon means that the server is busy rendering another job. If the server should not be busy, verify that the queue is clear of jobs by opening the Backburner Queue Monitor and connecting to the Manager. If the queue is clear of rendering jobs and the server is still flagged as busy, stop running Server on each of the problem workstations, and restart the service after a few seconds. Problem-"When I submit a job to be rendered, a server fails." Suggestion-Servers can fail for a variety of reasons during a network render job. Some of the more obvious reasons include: • Paths to footage are incorrect, and the servers are unable to find the necessary images when attempting to render the job. Make sure the footage can be found. If necessary, check the public path for the Input Folder setting. • The output folder is not a valid path for the server. Check the access on the server workstation. • A plug-in, font or codec necessary to render the task is not installed on the server. • There is not enough space on the target output drive. • There is not enough space on the local drive of the server to hold the incoming data. Note: All errors are recorded in the appropriate log file. You can view most of the errors mentioned above in the backburnerServer.log file in the Network folder. Problem-"When I start the Server as an application, I get the following error message in the Server window:" Host not found. Suggestion-First verify that the manager's workstation name or IP address is correctly specified in the Server preferences. If Auto-Connect to Manager is enabled in the Network Render Settings in the Render Queue Preferences dialog, try disabling it. If Get List Automatically is enabled in the Network Render Settings in the Render Queue Preferences dialog, the Manager Selection dialog appears listing the render managers (and their IP addresses) found on the network. Select a manager and click OK. If Auto-Connect to Manager is enabled, you can also disable Use First Available and enter the name or IP address of the manager workstation. Check the Network Rendering Preferences in the Combustion Render Queue Preferences dialog. See Submitting a Job. Next verify that the Manager and Server port numbers are correctly specified in the Manager and Server General Properties. If this does not solve the problem, verify that TCP/IP is correctly configured on all workstations running the software. If necessary, check the subnet mask value. Consult your network administrator before changing the subnet mask. See also Setting Up TCP/IP. Problem-"When I start Backburner Server as a service, the following message appears in the command prompt." Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. Suggestion-This message indicates that the Backburner Server service is already running. You can continue with network rendering. Problem-"When I start Backburner Server application, the following message appears." Service is installed. Cannot Run Server Application. Suggestion-This message indicates that the Backburner Server service is installed and running. 832

busy, verify that the queue is clear of jobs by opening

Backburner

Queue Monitor and connecting to

the Manager. If the queue is clear of rendering jobs

and the server is still flagged as busy, stop running

Server on each of the problem workstations, and

Problem—

“When I submit a job to be rendered, a

Suggestion—

Servers can fail for a variety of

reasons during a network render job. Some of the

more obvious reasons include:

•
