Note: If multiple nodes are selected and copied, but only some of the nodes can be pasted, the valid nodes are pasted. Once the layer is duplicated, a new layer is created using the operators from the original layer. Duplicating Layer Nodes Duplicating a layer node creates a new layer from the footage and operators of the duplicated node. Duplicating is not the same as copying and pasting. When a layer is copied and pasted, the layer and all associated operators are copied and pasted as a new layer. Duplicating a layer, however, creates a new layer from an operator. The following illustrations show a layer prior to duplication, in both the Schematic view and the Workspace panel. Since the footage used is the same footage for both layers, instead of having the footage copied, the same footage is used for both layers. Duplicated operators are instances of the original operators. Changes in either operator (original or duplicated) are reflected in the other. Any operators applied to either layer (original or duplicated) after the layer is duplicated are not applied in the other. 172
