2 Welcome to Combustion Using the Pick Color Dialog The Pick Color dialog appears when you click a color box to set a color value. Use the dialog to select a color based on HSV or RGB color models. You use the Mode list to select which two color components to display in the color area. The third appears in the color bar to the right of the color area. For example, if you choose Hue vs. Saturation, you use the color area to choose the hue and saturation values, and the color bar to choose the value. Color area Mode list Color bar • Select RGB%, RGB, or HSV from the Color Model list, and then use the sliders to specify a color. The color is displayed in the preview window. 3. Click OK to set the color. Using the Color Palette Sometimes you can also pick a color directly from a color palette. For example, in the Paint and Particles operators, you can set a gradient color tag with the palette. To pick from the color palette: 1. Right-click a tag to display the palette. Pick from color palette. Click to toggle color model. 2. Double-click a color, or click to select the color and press ENTER. Preview window To use the Pick Color dialog: 1. Select a mode from the Mode list. The choices are Hue vs. Saturation, Hue vs. Value, and Saturation vs. Value. 2. Do one of the following: • Click the color area to set the two color components listed in the Mode list. Use the color bar slider to pick the third. Using the Vectorscope You can use a vectorscope to help match colors, adjust shadows and highlights, view color distribution, and ensure that broadcast standards are met. There are two vectorscopes in Combustion: the 2D vectorscope and the 3D vectorscope. The vectorscopes show the changes you make to color content in a clip or image. Each vectorscope can display: • A histogram showing the distribution of image pixels across luma and hue ranges. The histogram dynamically updates to reflect your changes as you modify colors in the image or scrub through the clip. 44
