2 Welcome to Combustion To display lighting and surface effects: 1. Select the 3D composite whose lighting you want to view. 2. Select Settings in the Composite Controls panel to access the Settings controls. 3. Enable the required Render Effects options. Toolbar for Composite operator (tools for 3D composite shown) The Paint Toolbar includes tools to draw lines, masks, and selections. The following table describes the options. Enable Shading Shadows Reflections To Turn on lights in the composite. View shadows cast by objects onto other objects in the composite. View reflections and highlights on surfaces created by light bouncing from one object to another. Changing Object Detail Use the Object Detail options in the Settings controls to choose which composite objects are displayed in the viewports. You can also choose to display only a wireframe (outline) of the objects. You set these options for each composite separately. For more information, see "Settings Controls" in Chapter 8, "Using Surface Properties''. Using the Toolbar The Toolbar shows the tools that you use as you work with operators. The Toolbar is context sensitive; it shows the tools for the current operator. For example, the Composite Toolbar includes tools to move and rotate layers and change the composite view. For information on the Paint tools, see "Paint Interface" in Chapter 16, "Introduction to Paint''. For information on the Composite tools, see Chapter 5, "Compositing''. For information on using Paint tools for Paint output to .swf, see "Displaying Paint Options Supported for .swf Output" in Chapter 17, "Paint: Drawing Basics''. To access the Toolbar: Make the operator the current operator. To do this, use one of the methods listed in Displaying Operators in the Viewport. The operator is displayed in the viewport and its tools appear in the Toolbar. To show the Toolbar: Choose Window | Palettes | Show Toolbar. Note: If the Toolbar is behind the Workspace panel, click the Toolbar tab or press F2. 26
