Ripple mode enabled Adding Clips You can add clips to the Edit timeline by importing either footage or another operator from your workspace. You can also add operators to the Edit timeline segments directly, via the Workspace panel or the Schematic view. The Edit timeline updates automatically to show your changes. To add clips to the Edit timeline, you can mark in and out points to indicate the position and duration of the segment. For example, imagine you have a 200-frame segment, and you are interested in replacing the frames between frame 50 and frame 100 with another clip. By marking in and out points on these frames, you can overwrite the frames between frame 50 and frame 100 with the source from the new clip. Note: You cannot drag-and-drop operators to add them to the timeline. Segments on the timeline are created either by importing footage or picking an operator. Marking In and Out Points Use in points and out points to determine where and how shots are inserted on the timeline. When you mark the in and out points, clips are added between the in and out points. If you do not mark any points, clips are added at the location of the current time indicator. Mark only an out point to insert the last frame of the segment at the out point and "back fill" the footage in the timeline. Mark only an in point to insert the first frame of the footage at that frame. If you edit using an in or out point, it is referred to as one-point editing. Editing using both an in and out points is two-point editing. For more information on these editing techniques, see Performing One-Point Edits and Performing Two-Point Edits. To set Ripple or Overwrite mode:

In the Edit Timeline controls, do one of the

following:

Adding Clips

You can add clips to the Edit timeline by importing

either footage or another operator from your

workspace. You can also add operators to the Edit

timeline segments directly, via the Workspace panel

or the Schematic view. The Edit timeline updates

automatically to show your changes.

To add clips to the Edit timeline, you can mark in

and out points to indicate the position and duration

of the segment. For example, imagine you have a

200-frame segment, and you are interested in

replacing the frames between frame 50 and frame

100 with another clip. By marking in and out points

on these frames, you can overwrite the frames

between frame 50 and frame 100 with the source

from the new clip.

Note:

You cannot drag-and-drop operators to add

them to the timeline. Segments on the timeline are

created either by importing footage or picking an

operator.
