33 Advanced Topics 2. Click Add Input. A new input appears. Note: Once you add an input, you cannot delete it. However, you can choose Edit | Undo or press CTRL+Z to revert your changes. 3. Enter a name in the Input field and then press ENTER. Make sure the name you use is descriptive enough to guide others on how this input should be used. The input is added and appears in the Schematic view. 4. In the Notes panel, enter details about the input and any guidance on how it should be used. You can modify these notes at any time. They also will be displayed (in a read-only format) in the Information panel of the Basic controls. 5. In the Schematic view, link the input to the required operator node in the capsule. To rename an input: 1. In the Capsule Controls panel, click Inputs. 2. Click the Input field that you would like to modify. 3. Enter a new name and then press ENTER. 4. If required, update the information about the input in the Notes panel. Creating Controllers Controllers are linked to existing operator channels and are used to define which channels you will expose for animation. This way, you can select only the subset of channels that you want to give users access to, creating a customized operator. When you first create a capsule, no channels are exposed by default. Channels that are not linked to a controller can still be modified in the ChannelPick panel of the Capsule Controls, or in the Timeline. To create controllers: 1. In the Capsule Controls, do either of the following: • Add a controller. See Adding Controllers. • Clone and link a channel. See Add Controllers from Existing Channels. 2. Define the controller. See Configuring Channel Parameters. 3. Link channels to the controller. See Linking Channels to a Controller. Note: If you created a controller by cloning and linking a channel, steps 2 and 3 are optional. For more information, see the respective sections. Adding Controllers You can add a controller to create one with no default settings, which then must be linked to one or more operator channels. This is useful, for example, when creating a controller that you want to link to multiple channels. Note: You can also create a controller by cloning a channel, which duplicates the existing channel settings. For information see Add Controllers from Existing Channels. To add a new controller: 1.
