Working in the Edit Timeline ❚❘❘ Note: To snap the indicator to the nearest cut point, transition head, transition tail, marker, or frame 0, press SHIFT while dragging. Current Time indicator • Press / and enter the time frame in the Go to Time dialog. You can use the following shortcuts when entering timecode. To Go to 5:00:00 Go to 05:00 Go to 05:00:00 Move ahead 5 frames Move back 5 frames Type 5.00.00 5. 5.. +5 -5 To move between segments: Do one of the following: • Press , (comma) to move to the previous segment. • Press . (period) to move to the next segment. • Press K to move the mark in point. See, Marking In and Out Points. • Press L to move the mark out point. See, Marking In and Out Points. Note: You can also use the Playback controls to move forward and backward in the clip and to set playback in and out points. The Playback controls are similar to controls on a VTR. For more information, see "Playback Controls" in Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. Zooming and Panning the Edit Timeline You can zoom in and zoom out the Edit timeline and pan the Edit timeline view. To zoom in or out: In the Edit Timeline controls, do one of the following: • Click to zoom in by a factor of two. • Click to zoom out by a factor of two. • To zoom in or out, move the cursor over the Edit timeline, then press CTRL-drag the mouse left or right. The zooming is always centered around the location of the mouse pointer when you started dragging. • Click the Frame All button to view the entire project in the Timeline view. To pan the Edit timeline view: Position the cursor in the Edit timeline, then press SHIFT+ALT and drag the mouse left or right. The cursor changes to indicate you are panning. Pan cursor Note: You must position the cursor over an empty area in the timeline. Changing Display Units The Edit timeline uses the same display units as shown in the Current Frame field in the Playback controls. You can choose to display SMPTE 385

Zooming and Panning the Edit

Timeline

You can zoom in and zoom out the Edit timeline and

pan the Edit timeline view.

To zoom in or out:

In the Edit Timeline controls, do one of the

following:

to zoom in by a factor of two.

to zoom out by a factor of two.

To zoom in or out, move the cursor over the Edit

timeline, then press

-drag the mouse left or

right.
