2 Welcome to Combustion Select To Split Vertically Determine the vertical region split by clicking or dragging in the viewport. Split Horizontally Determine the horizontal region split by clicking or dragging in the viewport. Compare Region list Note: ALT-click and ALT-drag in the viewport to split the view horizontally when the Compare Region list is set to Split Vertically, and vice versa. 5. Enable Invert to toggle the comparison region between the inside and outside of the drawn area. 6. Enable Region Limits to show an outline around the comparison region. This option is only available when Rectangle is selected from the Compare Region list. Note: To reset the comparison region, click in the viewport anywhere outside of the comparison region. Using the Timeline The Timeline provides an overall view of all animated channels in the workspace. Use the Timeline to view and edit keyframes, and to add and create expressions. Before you begin creating animations, you should be familiar with the Timeline. The Timeline is divided in three parts. The Timeline list lists all the layers, objects, effects, and keyframes in the current branch or composite. The Timeline view depicts objects and keyframes over time in Graph or Overview mode. The Timeline also shows expressions added to channels when Overview mode is selected. Expressions can also be edited, imported and exported via the Timeline. The control buttons control various aspects of the Timeline view and animation. The information displayed in the Timeline depends on what is selected in the Workspace panel. For example, if you select a composite in the Workspace panel, the layers of that composite are displayed in the Timeline. You can navigate through the layers and operators in your projects in the same way as you do in the Workspace panel. For detailed information on navigating in the Timeline, see "Working with the Timeline" in Chapter 12, "Creating Animations''. For information on animating, see Chapter 12, "Creating Animations'' and Chapter 13, "Creating Expressions''. To show the Timeline: Choose Window | Palettes | Show Timeline. Note: If the Timeline is behind another panel, click the Timeline tab or press F4. Pressing F4 also selects (shifts keyboard focus to) the Timeline, which is useful if you want to then apply other Timeline keyboard shortcuts. To expand the Timeline: Choose Window | Palettes | Expand Timeline, or press +F11. Choose this option again to return to the default setup. To undock the Timeline: 1. Choose File | Preferences (CTRL+;). 2. Under the Host category, click the Monitors category, and set Float On for the Timeline, and then click OK (ENTER). Note:

-click and

-drag in the viewport to

split the view horizontally when the Compare

Region list is set to Split Vertically, and vice versa.

Using the Timeline

create expressions. Before you begin creating

animations, you should be familiar with the

Timeline.
