Setting Ripple and Overwrite Modes ❚❘❘ 2. To add a comment to a marker, type the comment in the Marker comment field and click OK. A dot appears on the marker indicating the marker is commented. Note: When you finish editing the properties of a marker, you can click the Previous Marker button and the Next Marker button to edit the other markers. 7. Once all marker edits are complete, click OK or press ENTER twice to close the Marker dialog. Markers with comments 3. To change the color of a marker, click a marker color indicator. The new color is applied to the current marker and to subsequent markers, and is saved as the default color. Markers you added prior changing the color retain their default colors. 4. Setting Ripple and Overwrite Modes Use Ripple and Overwrite modes in the Edit Timeline controls to determine how your sequence is affected by edits, such as trimming. Note: These modes only control the duration of the sequence. To control the duration of the Edit timeline, use the Duration or Auto Adjust Duration options in the Output controls. See, Edit Output Controls. When Ripple mode is enabled, the overall length of the edit sequence is affected when you add or remove segments in the timeline. The duration increases or decreases (ripples) to accommodate changes to the sequence. When Overwrite mode is enabled, the overall duration remains fixed, and current segments can be replaced by new ones. If you delete a shot, a gap remains in the timeline. The Ripple mode ripples the sequence in a forward direction and the Overwrite mode overwrites the sequence in a forward direction. 387

To add a comment to a marker, type the comment

in the Marker comment field and click OK.

A dot appears on the marker indicating the

To change the color of a marker, click a marker

color indicator.

The new color is applied to the current marker

and to subsequent markers, and is saved as the

default color. Markers you added prior changing

To change a marker’s location, enter a frame

Note:

You can also drag the marker to the desired

position.

To lock a marker so it cannot be moved, enable
